MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND/CHOIR ASSISTANT Position type: Part time, Non-exempt Hours: Monday – Friday, 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. (Unless otherwise specified) Reports to: Head of Middle School Position Summary: Sycamore School seeks a Band/Choir assistant for its middle school students for the 2019-2020 school year. In this position you will be expected to support the Band and Choir Directors and assist your fellow colleagues in creating an engaging and collaborative environment for our 5th through 8th grade gifted learners. As a teaching assistant your responsibilities will include: solo and team teaching responsibilities, program logistics coordination, and assisting with all aspects of the band program.

Requirements

Qualifications & Requirements: Outstanding collaboration skills Excellent pedagogy and classroom management ability Brass and/or Percussion emphasis preferred but not required Large band organization, management, and professionalism skills Bachelor’s degree or in process (focus in Music Education) Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills Ability to multitask Experience with classroom record keeping Comfortable leading group lessons/discussions Experience working with adolescents Desire to work with Gifted and Talented or High Ability middle school students Experience with Gifted and Talented or High Ability learners is highly preferred Preference is for brass player Flexibility and willingness to perform duties as assigned by lead teacher, Division Head and administration
