ASSISTANT BAND DIRECTOR POSITION. The Metropolitan School District of Warren Township (Indianapolis, IN) is adding an Assistant Band Director position beginning June, 2018. Woodwind specialist preferred, but all résumés with commensurate experience will be considered. Duties will be to co-teach middle school bands (grades 7-8) and intermediate/advanced concert bands (grades 9-12). There are also significant co-curricular and extra-curricular duties including marching, concert, and pep band rehearsals, performances, contests, and community events. Working Conditions *Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors *Maintain emotional control under stress. *Frequent district and occasional statewide travel; prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor and indoor work; exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather.


Qualifications include: *Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university *A current Indiana Teaching Certificate in Instrumental Music Special Knowledge/Skills: *Wind and percussion instrument proficiency and pedagogy *Thorough knowledge of band literature appropriate for developing middle and high school band programs *Demonstrated aptitude for developing successful marching and pep band programs *Music technology proficiency *Band program administration *Ability to work well with students, staff members and community patrons *Ability to demonstrate leadership, organization, as well as clear and consistent communication skills
