Instrument drive planned to assist Floyd County schools

The Carnegie Center in New Albany, Indiana is a drop-off location for gently-used musical instruments to benefit New Albany – Floyd County Schools.

The instrument drive will take place Tuesday, May 31 through Saturday June 4, 2016 is a part of WUOL Classical 90.5’s Instrument Partners program, and will kick off at the Boomtown Festival on Market Street in downtown New Albany Sunday, May 29with instruments collected during the event from 4 – 8 p.m. For the rest of the week, instruments can be dropped off at the Carnegie Center during regular museum hours (10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.).

The current needs include Bass Clarinets, French Horns, 3/4 size Cellos, 1/2 size Basses, full size Cellos, Flutes, Clarinets, Trumpets, Trombones, Tubas, and Saxophones.

If instruments are in need of repair, Classical 90.5’s community partners include music stores that will assist with any repair and with delivering instruments to identified schools in New Albany – Floyd County.
