All-State Marimba/Percussion Ensemble

The Indiana All State High School Marimba/Percussion Ensemble is an elite ensemble of high school percussionists chosen by audition. Each year, these students meet for an intensive day of rehearsal on the Friday of the Indiana Music Educators Association convention. Following their day of rehearsal, they perform two concerts that Saturday.  The first of which is a lobby concert and the second is their formal concert in a performance hall for the convention.

The ensemble was founded by Dr. Erwin Mueller, Ball State University, in the fall of 1998.  Dr. Mueller is and has been very active in teaching percussion in the state of Indiana and is an active member of the Percussive Arts Society.  Every year, the ensemble has grown in auditionees and participants.  Last year, the ensemble consisted of 35 of Indiana's top high school students.
